Workers Compensation

A work injury comes with two problems at once. There is the injury itself, and there is a claims process that most people have never dealt with before and have to learn while they are in pain.

Dr. Blossey has treated work injuries for over thirty years. You get a thorough examination, a treatment plan built around the findings, and documentation written properly from the first visit so your claim is not held up by missing records.

Report the injury to your employer first, then call us.

What to Do After You
Are Hurt at Work

The first few steps decide how
smoothly the rest of it goes

Tell your supervisor straight away. California workers compensation runs on time limits, and a delayed report is the single most common reason a claim gets questioned. Report it even if the injury seems small, and even if you think you will be fine tomorrow.

Your employer is required to give you a claim form, the DWC-1, within one working day of learning about your injury. Fill in the employee section and return it. Keep a copy for yourself with the date on it.

Many employers use a Medical Provider Network, which is a defined list of providers approved to treat work injuries. Whether you can be treated here depends on your employer’s arrangement. Call us with your employer’s name and we will check before you come in, so nobody wastes a visit.

Report it the day it happens. Everything after that is easier.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to report the injury even if it seems minor?

Yes. Report it to your supervisor immediately. California workers compensation has time limits, and injuries that seem minor on day one often are not by the end of the week. Reporting late is the most common reason a claim runs into trouble.

Can I choose to be treated here?

It depends on your employer’s arrangement. Many employers use a Medical Provider Network, a list of providers approved to treat work injuries. Call us with your employer’s name and we will check before you come in.

What is the DWC-1 form?

It is the California workers compensation claim form. Your employer is required to give it to you within one working day of learning about your injury. Fill in the employee section, return it, and keep a dated copy for yourself.

Will treatment cost me anything?

Treatment for an accepted work injury is normally paid by your employer’s workers compensation insurer. Call us before your first visit and we will confirm how your case is covered.
