Sports Injury

Most sports injuries are not dramatic. They start as something you can train through, then become something you cannot. The hamstring that tightens at the same point every run, the shoulder that aches after throwing, the knee that complains going downstairs.

We find out what is actually failing and why. That usually means looking past the painful spot to the joint above or below it, because the place that hurts is often not the place that caused it.

Training through it rarely works. Get it assessed.

Treating the Cause, Not
Just the Sore Spot

Pain shows up where the tissue failed, not always
where the problem started

A stiff mid back makes the shoulder work harder. A hip that will not rotate properly makes the knee absorb what it was not built for. Treat only the painful area and it feels better for a week, then comes back the moment training ramps up again.

The examination here looks at the whole chain. Movement, joint restriction, muscle tone, and how you load the limb. Then treatment addresses what the examination found, which sometimes is the painful area and often is not.

Treatment may include adjustments, soft tissue work and massage, shockwave therapy for stubborn tendon problems, and specific exercises between visits. The exercises are not optional. They are what makes the result hold once you are back in training.

The goal is not just getting out of pain. It is being able to train without it coming back.

Why Athletes Choose Ryan Blossey Chiropractic

Thirty Years of Experience

Dr. Blossey has treated sports injuries since 1996, across every level from weekend runner to competitive athlete.

Whole Chain Assessment

We look at the joints above and below the pain, because that is usually where the cause is hiding.

Shockwave for Stubborn Tendons

Tendon and fascia problems that have not responded to rest often respond to shockwave therapy.

Soft Tissue Work Included

Massage and soft tissue treatment alongside adjustments, so the muscles stop pulling the joint back out.

A Plan With a Timeline

You will know roughly how long this should take and what has to happen before you return to full training.

Honest About Referrals

If the findings suggest a tear, a fracture, or anything needing imaging, we say so and send you on.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Should I rest it or keep training?

It depends entirely on what the injury is, which is the problem with deciding on your own. Some injuries need load reduced for a short period. Others get worse with complete rest because the tissue needs controlled loading to recover. Get it assessed and you will know which one you have.

How long until I can compete again?

That depends on the injury and how long it has been building. After the examination you will get a plan with a rough timeline and the milestones you need to reach before returning to full training.

What is shockwave therapy and will it help me?

It is a non invasive treatment that sends acoustic pressure waves into injured tissue to restart healing. It works best for tendon and fascia problems that have not responded to rest. Read more about shockwave therapy.

Do I need a referral to come in?

No. You can book directly. If your findings suggest something that needs imaging or a specialist, we will tell you and refer you on.
