Acupuncture

Acupuncture uses very fine needles placed at specific points to reduce pain and release tension. The needles are far thinner than the ones used for injections, and most patients are surprised by how little they feel.

At Ryan Blossey Chiropractic it is often used alongside chiropractic treatment. An adjustment restores movement to a restricted joint. Acupuncture settles the muscle tension and pain response around it, which is frequently what makes the result last.

What Acupuncture
Actually Feels Like

The honest version, because most people arrive nervous

The needles are about the thickness of a hair. Most points you will not feel at all. At some you may notice a brief dull ache or a heavy sensation, which usually settles within seconds and is a normal part of the treatment.

Once the needles are placed you rest for roughly twenty minutes. Most patients find this part unexpectedly relaxing, and a fair number fall asleep. Afterwards you may feel loose and a little tired for a few hours, or you may feel nothing unusual at all.

Results build rather than arrive all at once. Some patients notice a difference after one session. Most need a short course before the change holds. We will tell you after the first few visits whether this is working for you, rather than booking you in indefinitely.

If it is not helping after a fair trial, we will say so and try something else.

Why Patients Choose Us for Acupuncture

Part of a Bigger Plan

Acupuncture here is not a standalone bolt on. It fits into a treatment plan alongside chiropractic care when that combination suits you.

Thirty Years of Experience

Dr. Blossey has practiced since 1996 and treats every patient personally.

Examination First

We assess the problem before any needle goes in, so the treatment is directed at a finding rather than a guess.

Single Use Needles

Sterile, single use needles every time, disposed of after your session.

Honest About Fit

Acupuncture does not suit every condition or every patient. We will tell you if yours is one where it is unlikely to help.

Clear Course Length

You will know roughly how many sessions to expect and when we will review whether it is working.

What Patients Come to Us For

The problems acupuncture is most often used for here

  • Neck and shoulder tension that keeps returning after it is released
  • Lower back pain, particularly where muscle guarding is a large part of it
  • Headaches and migraines
  • Nerve pain, tingling, and numbness in an arm or leg
  • Stress held in the muscles, and the poor sleep that comes with it

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Does acupuncture hurt?

Very little. The needles are roughly the thickness of a hair and most insertions are not felt. At some points you may notice a brief dull or heavy sensation that passes within seconds.

How many sessions will I need?

Some patients notice a difference after one session, but most need a short course before the change holds. We will tell you after the first few visits whether it is working for you.

Can I have acupuncture and chiropractic treatment together?

Yes, and that is often how it is used here. The adjustment restores movement to the joint, and acupuncture settles the muscle tension and pain around it.

Are the needles clean?

Yes. We use sterile, single use needles every time, and they are disposed of after your session.
